How2Homestage FAQ

FAQ's - Frequently Asked Questions About Home Staging
Q - Where do I begin if I don't have anything nice to use to stage my house with?
A- Not an uncommon question. Most people cannot throw everything out and start over.  If you do not have any furniture worth keeping, it is better to simply remove the pieces and have nothing or you can rent some pieces to help you stage from a rental outlet.  If, on the other hand you just don't know what to do, how2homestage.com has a simple instructional approach to preparing a home for resale and creating a theme though paint, color, and accessories that will mask the condition of the furniture.

Q - We have too much furniture. What can I do with all the antiques my in-laws gave us and not hurt their fee?
A - Create a special room to display the pieces in like a living room or a guest room.  Keep the peace and keep the pieces...however for home staging purposes it is best to store all your "valuables" in a safe and secure place.

Q - I think I find a color I like and when I get it home it looks completely different. How can I get it right the first time?
A - If you are talking about fabrics, you need to take as many samples as you can to work with when you are shopping.  If you are talking about paint, you may have a lighting situation that is not the same as the stores that you are visiting.  Designers generally use strike offs or samples of the paint from the paint supplier.  If you cannot get a sample of a paint color, go to a paint store where you can.  Many times, you can get professional advice if you can formulate your question.

Q - What if I cannot understand your instructions?
A - We guarantee you will understand our easy to implement home staging instructions or you will get your money back.  They are from our own experiences and we know they work.  You will also have the opportunity to ask our design staff one question that is specific to your needs, absolutely free.  If you are not satisfied with the how-to portion of our instructions, you can get a full refund within 7 days.

Q - Once I have registered, how do I ask my question?
A - On your receipt you will find an area toward the bottom that asks you to fill in the windows and to submit your question at that time.  You will also find the links to bookmark that will take you to the members’ area of the how2homestag.com web site.  You will access us from then on through your bookmark plus begin receiving your free newsletter each month with fabulous ideas and tips, with photos from us.

Q - What is going to be in your Home Staging newsletter?

Q - I am going to put my house on the market around the holidays. I love decorating for the holidays but will the decorations be too much and turn potential buyers off?
A - Fortunately, the Christmas spirit is contagious and especially during the holidays people generally love looking at holiday decorations.  Do keep your decorations up but be sure that you have followed all the de-cluttering and cleaning procedures prior to putting up your decorations, even if you haven't listed your house yet, and make sure you can flow through each room with ease. If you have religious artifacts, it may be best to pack those away to use in your new home. They may turn potential buyers away and that is the last thing you want to do.

How2HomeStage FAQ

Sheron Cardin
Hello and welcome. I am Sheron Cardin, creator of how2homestage.com. I began my career in the model home industry in 1981 and studied under internationally known designers such as Carol Eichen and Terry Holliday. With over 400 model homes under my belt, I left central California and moved to Orange County, California in the mid-80s. I opened a design studio in San Clemente. The Calfornia Look was just taking off... Spanish paver flooring, white upholstered furnishings with salmon tinted wall colors, and just the right accessories was the rage. It was a great time to be an Interior Designer!

During that period I was approached by a successful San Clemente Realtor. She had just listed a home and knew it needed a lot of help to get the asking price. I agreed to help and in 11 days the home was transformed from a bachelor pad to a dream home and it sold during the Realtor walk-through. Since then I have staged counteless homes all over California and the same thing kept happening over and over again. With the growing need for staged homes in real estate (it is now one of the hottest trendsd in decorating) I have decided to teach what I have learned to as many people as I can with a simple and direct aproach to a very practical situation.
